Caliber Collision Award

Strong partnerships are a cornerstone of any successful career training program – after students have built the skills they need to enter new fields, it’s important to know there are organizations ready to hire them.  In late January, Tech’s Denver campus honored several of their employer partners at the school’s annual “Stars & Bars” student awards ceremony, and among the group of recipients was – one of the country’s top collision repair companies for the last 20 years!

“We are honored to receive this award and are proud of the partnership with Tech to provide a new generation of professionals with training and employment opportunities in the fast-growing collision repair industry,” Rusty Barsanti, senior vice president of operations, told following the ceremony. “With 474 locations throughout the country, we continually welcome additional teammates as we continue to grow into the collision repair provider of choice in every community we serve.”

With nearly 20 centers in the Denver area, Caliber offers a number of opportunities for Tech graduates to pursue careers in the collision repair and refinishing industry – a field that could add more than 38,000 jobs around the country by 2024 and is projected to grow 19 percent around Colorado during that time*.  Caliber does more than just hire graduates – they also take part in on-campus career fairs and assist in developing the school’s collision repair curriculum.

“We were excited to be able to present our Employer Partner award for collision repair to Caliber Collision because they’ve played an important role in the lives of many Tech graduates over the years,” says Ken Phipps, the campus Director of Career Services.  “We made our selections based on the number of graduates our partners employ, active participation in our career fairs and curriculum development meetings, and the opportunities they provide for our current students who want to work part-time while attending school.”

At the January 31st ceremony, award recipients were also honored with a breakfast buffet.  “It is our way of saying thank you for their partnership, while promoting the opportunities they have available to our students,” Phipps says.
